In The Acts of the Apostles, page 122, it says, “Christ is the fountain; the church is the channel of communication.” The Communication Department attempts, by God’s grace, to fulfill that commission by keeping our church members informed about how the Lord is blessing the churches in Michigan and by helping communities become aware of the positive role that the local Adventist Church plays in their area. These objectives are accomplished not only through the efforts of the conference communication personnel but also the local communication leaders in the churches throughout Michigan. Even though the best way to communicate God’s message is still simply by one person sharing God’s love with another person, we believe that the Lord has helped people develop communication technology “for such a time as this.” Therefore, we communicate to church members using several mediums:

A. Church Publications—The Michigan Conference uses two main publications to communicate with church members:

1. The Michigan Memo—This is the official newsletter of the Michigan Conference. Ten issues are published each year, and they are sent to every Adventist home in Michigan.

2. Lake Union Herald—This is published by the Lake Union Conference Communication Department and is mailed to all Adventist Church families throughout the Lake Union. It shares information usually not found in The Michigan Memo, including new member stories, special union events, weddings, obituaries, and other general information. (Click here to download copies of the milestone forms. Or you may complete the on-line option on the right hand side of your screen) Michigan stories and information are compiled and edited by the Michigan Conference Communication Department and then submitted to the Lake Union Herald.

B. Website—The conference website—www.misda.org— provides information regarding (1) conference departments, (2) Michigan church and school locations and personnel, (3) Adventist fundamental beliefs, (4) Bible study availability, etc.

Our prayer is that the Lord will use us and the church members in Michigan as channels to communicate His love and the gospel message to others.
